Summer Days :: Mini Theme Session Photos

We had a beautiful {BUT HOT} summer theme mini-session. We started in the field where the light at the end of the day was gorgeous. I’ve mentioned this several times before, but the light at the end of the day is beautiful. We shot with the sun behind the subject to give a nice backlit “glow.” My favorite! Then we also had “summer” activities: bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a sand pit and Popsicles. Well, we TRIED popsicles. My cooler wasn’t cold enough for the summer heat, so those were liquid by our first session. Note to self: Try popsicles in the winter ?? Anyways, we didn’t need popsicles to have fun! And the “prop” of the day was a sweet flower wreath designed by Kayla. Tristian was so pretty wearing it. All the kids did great and the families had fun together. We captured some great moments.

As always, I couldn’t have done it by myself – thank you to Kayla for the style ideas; and to my photographer friends Rachel, Kendall and Amanda – thank you for running, jumping and cleaning up. You all rock! Here’s a photo of us at the end of the day… another note to self – set up the team shot at the beginning of the day before we are covered in sweat.

I hope these photos inspire some of your own creative summer photos. It’s difficult to get out in the summer heat with your kids and your camera. But it’s so worth it. Grab some chalk or bubbles and capture your own moments!  I’m working up the courage to take some pool shoots. I will make a post with some pool ideas soon. Thank you for visiting the site and please leave a comment below. I love hearing your feedback!
