Tortilla Chips & Red Trucks

This shoot pretty much had all my favorite elements: a beautiful day, a super fun couple, a downtown stroll in Franklin, a RED TRUCK (that we stumbled upon), a pasting train, a gorgeous sunset and we finished the day with drinks at Chuys. Here are just a few of my favs from Fallon & Devan’s Engagement Shoot. I’m soooo looking forward to their wedding celebration in March – I know it’s going to be a FUN day!!

Fallon & Devan: I so enjoyed spending the afternoon with you for this shoot. I have love getting to know you. It’s apparent that you have TONS of fun together and deeply love each other. May your wedding planning continue to be filled with lots of laughter, tortilla chips and red trucks. Cheers!

I Choose You / Engagement Session

I am always challenged at weddings, but one statement stands out from all the 2011 wedding vows: I CHOOSE you above everyone today and everyday. I thought it was significant because it’s something that as a married couple you have to do everyday: to choose your spouse above yourself, to choose to love, to choose to honor… so I finally incorporated this idea into a shoot (after some ideas from pinterest). So meet Lauralee & Jon… they are a sweet couple and I have the honor of photographing their wedding next summer. (And I have the pleasure of working with Regalo Design again) Lauralee & Jon, it was my pleasure to hang with you guys – You are beautiful! Enjoy your engagement “season” and your photos…

UT Fans Engagement Session

I’m delighted that I’ll be photographing Lauren & Aaron’s wedding in the spring! They are a super fun and cute couple. And like all my UT friends, are total fans of their alma mater – so we incorporated their love for UT football in their engagement session :) Kayla & I enjoyed getting to know Lauren and Aaron – we wish you many blessings as you prepare for your wedding celebration.

Lisa & Eddie love Nashville {Engagement Session}

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Lisa and Eddie. I’d love to share a little bit of their story with you — Lisa & Eddie met at Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management and fell in love with the campus, 21st Avenue AND of course, each other. They both now work in Huntsville, but are planning a Nashville wedding in 2011. Because of their connection to the city, Eddie surprised Lisa by making fake arrangements for them to come up to Nashville to meet some friends for dinner. But instead of dinner, Eddie took Lisa out to the Pedestrian Bridge and proposed! They love the outdoors and music – so Nashville is the perfect city to experience both. And in honor of their love for the city – their two dogs are names Nash (after Nashville) and Ryley (after the Ryman). I am excited and honored to photograph their wedding next year.

So, here are some of their sweet engagement photos. First – THE DATE! When we were corresponding about the date, I didn’t even realize the cool DATE until we wrote it on this little chalkboard – how fun! Since they met at Graduate School at Vandy, we started their photo session at the building they spent a lot of time in together: Owen. I LOVED the curves and modern features of this building, but we also captured the traditional essence of the campus as we walked around a bit.

Then we ventured over to a field in Greenhills where the lighting was gorgeous. I love the softness of the light and textures and beautiful golden sunlight! I think the environment really conveyed the essence of their sweet relationship.

The sun quickly faded but we still wanted to capture photos around Hillsboro Village where they both spent a lot of time while they were in school. It was fun to shoot some “night-style” photos. I’m definitely going to have to suggest this again! I LOVE the lights, activity and energy around the “street light & life.” And we found a few quiet spots too…

I enjoyed my afternoon with Lisa & Eddie and with Sarah Goude, their wedding coordinator. (I’ll be interviewing Sarah later this month on my blog) Shannon Brasel also joined us as a second shooter/ assistant. Thank you to everyone for a FUN AFTERNOON! I look forward to your wedding next year :)

Engagement Photo Session :: Ellen & Jimmy

Well, a first for me – photographing a portrait session with a canoe! Ellen & Jimmy are getting married in October in Watercolor, FL. They got engaged on a mountain on a hike. So we wanted their engagement session to reflect their love for the outdoors AND for each other. We initially planned to shoot with bikes (they love bike riding too), but literally an hour before the shoot we found a canoe to use. We quickly changed shoot locations and put the canoe in. Now I have to give props to an incredibly talented and hard working team to make these photos a reality :: First, thank you to Mary Virginia (Ellen’s cousin) for finding a canoe!! LeeAnne Blair did Ellen’s amazing make-up. Kayla styled her hair & wardrobe and assisted me. Ian Riley manned the boat and rocked the lights! (And I could tell he was ITCHING to shoot, so I handed him my camera for a few minutes. He captured these two shots below). And he was the MVP of the day. (I wish I had a medal to give him.) In order to allow Ellen & Jimmy to sit together in the canoe we needed something (or someone) to balance the canoe. So in this image above, Ian is literally laying down in the back of the canoe. THANK YOU IAN!

I am looking forward to and am incredibly honored to be a part of Ellen & Jimmy’s wedding celebration in October. Thank you to you both – you are a beautiful couple. Enjoy your engagement and wedding-planning season… and your photos ::
