Your Photo Session Experience

Portrait (Families, Seniors)
Your photography experience will be a fun and creative time for you to laugh, play, explore and be yourself. I like to capture a variety of shots ranging from “lifestyle/ artistic” to “posed/ traditional.” If you are a new client, please fill out the online survey to let us get to know you and your expectations for your shoot. Then we will discuss (via email or phone) details for the location, our ideas and possibly an activity. After your session, we may schedule an appointment sit down to discuss product options ranging from frames to albums.

If you have spent time on the website, you’ll notice that the majority of the shots are taken in natural daylight to achieve that warm, colorful look. If you want similar photos, I recommend planning to schedule your session about 1-2 hours prior to the sunset. It’s the perfect time of the day for lighting! However, I know this might not be the best time in your schedule, so if this is the case, don’t fret, we can still get great photos.

We know it’s difficult to choose the perfect outfit, so we offer wardrobe counseling prior to the day of the shoot. Kayla & I can also give you advice on choosing the right outfits. You may bring wardrobe options to the shoot and we can help you finalize your wardrobe. Many folks have found this guideline helpful as well. The main thing to remember is that your wardrobe should reflect the style and personality of your family. While it’s best for the composition of the photo to the clothes to compliment, I highly recommend NOT to “match” (for example everyone in white and jeans).

Weddings
Your wedding day will be filled with activity, emotion and celebration. We will capture it all! In addition to myself, I always hire a second photographer and assistant to photograph weddings. Therefore we can capture of variety of images and maximize our time with you. Prior to your wedding, I will meet with you to plan out the best schedule for your day to ensure we capture what is important to you. As you prepare to set your ceremony time, please keep in mind that the best time of the day for photographs is 1-2 hours prior to the sunset. Natural light photos define my style; and I assume that’s why you want to hire me, therefore, keep this in mind when planning your day. I recommend blocking a minimum of 30 minutes for couple shots, 30 minutes for group shots and 30 minutes for wedding party shots. Therefore, estimate 1.5 hours of group photography. That might seem like a lot, but it goes by quickly. And the time during the couple shots is always so special for the couple to spend a few minutes “alone” together.  If you plan a “First Sight” meeting, then we can capture the majority of your group shots prior to the wedding.

Artist Sessions (Head-shots, Publicity, Art Direction)
I offer a variety of session options for “Artist Session” for those needing headshots for work or modeling. I have photographed authors, artists, Realtors, filmmakers and more. These sessions can range from a 45-minute headshot session to and all day concept-driven artistic shoot. Prior to your shoots, we will discuss your objectives and ideas to ensure your expectations are met. These sessions are super fun for me because it often involves a lot of creative brainstorming!
I work with a make-up & hair stylist team; or Kayla & I can provide touch ups. Let me know if you are interested in adding on make-up & hair.
